This privacy policy for Uni Industries Inc. (f.k.a. Uni Industries LLC) ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), describes how and why we might collect, store, use, and/or share ("process") your information when you use our services ("Services").

This includes when you:

  • Download and use our desktop or mobile application (Kinelo, the “App”), or any other application of ours that links to this privacy policy
  • Engage with us in other related ways, including any sales, marketing, or events

Information you may provide

Personal information

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and Services, when you participate in activities on the Services, or when you contact or otherwise interact with us.

This information may include:

  • Contact and account information. This includes details such as your first and last name, email address, phone number, username, and password.
  • Feedback. If you contact us with questions, feedback, product reviews, surveys, or any other type of correspondence, we may collect the information you provide.
  • Marketing preferences and information. We may ask for your preferences when it comes to receiving communications about our activities, events, and publications. We may also collect details about how you engage with our communications.
  • Other information. We may collect information that's not listed here, but we will always use it in accordance with our privacy policy or any other disclosures provided at the time of collection.

Application data and content

Many core features of the App run locally on your computer, including on-device computation for certain machine learning and AI features.

Some features work entirely locally. Others require a network connection to function. You can change what is collected or exclude information at any time in Settings.

To provide its capabilities, the App might request various permissions from your device or operating system. This may include including your device's calendar, contacts, reminders, storage, and other features. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device's settings.

Network-enabled features

Some optional features do require a network connection. If you choose to use these features, some information may be transmitted to our servers or vendors to facilitate providing those features. Examples include:

  • If you choose to use a feature that syncs your documents to your locally computer, the App might need to contact the servers that store those documents, and might transmit credentials or other information during that request.
  • If you choose to use a feature that summarizes or completes text, or performs other AI actions, the App might need to send some content to an AI or ML API provider to facilitate that request.
  • If you choose to use a collaboration or sync feature, the App might need to send content or links to APIs that facilitate those features.

In addition, some versions of the App (especially Beta or preview releases) may use a network connection to periodically verify license information.

When a feature involves a connected account (e.g., calendar, email, files, etc.), Kinelo retrieves only the data necessary for that feature and only after you authorize access via OAuth or a similar authorization flow.

Metrics, analytics, and feedback

We always strive to improve our App and Services and appreciate any feedback or bug reports you provide.

We ask that you opt-in to providing high-level usage metrics that are aggregated across our population of users and help us understand how people are using our App and Services.

If you do opt-in to providing usage metrics and analytics, use in-App bug reporting or feedback features, or if you choose to use features that require a server connection, we may collect some additional device information such as device type, configuration, capabilities, and other information.

Automatic data collection

When you visit our website, communicate with us, or use server-based features in our App, we may automatically collect certain additional information. This may include:

  • Device data, such as your computer’s or mobile device’s operating system type and version, manufacturer and model, browser type, screen resolution, RAM and disk size, CPU usage, device type (e.g., phone, tablet), IP address, language settings, mobile device carrier, radio/network information (e.g., WiFi, LTE, 4G).
  • Online activity data, such as pages or screens you viewed, how long you spent on a page or screen, browsing history, navigation paths between pages or screens, information about your activity on a page or screen, access times, and duration of access, and whether you have opened our marketing emails or clicked links within them.

From time to time, we may request your explicit consent to review specific information to resolve a support issue. We do not permit human access to third-party platform data obtained via OAuth (including Google user data) except as described in the “Use of Third-Party OAuth & API Data” section.

Use of Third-Party OAuth & API Data

We access data from connected accounts through OAuth or similar authorization to provide user-facing features in Kinelo. We use this data only to provide or improve visible features, do not sell it, do not use it for advertising, and do not allow human reading except with your consent, for security, to comply with law, or in aggregated/de-identified form for internal operations.

Provider-specific note: For Google user data, our use adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Disconnecting Connected Accounts and Revoking Access

You can disconnect any connected account at any time in Settings → Integrations. You can also revoke Kinelo’s access from your account provider’s security page.

Retention and Deletion

Information stored within the Kinelo application on your computer is stored until you delete it, or until you uninstall Kinelo and delete its data files.

Marketing and advertising

We do not sell personal data. We do not use third-party platform data for advertising or ad targeting, and we do not share such data with third parties for advertising purposes.

If you visit our website, engage with us in communication channels, or otherwise use our Services, we might use some information to contact you for our own marketing purposes, including:

  • Direct marketing. We or our partners may from time-to-time send you direct marketing communications as permitted by law, including, but not limited to, notifying you of special promotions and offers via email. You may opt out of our marketing communications at anytime.

Information we share data with other companies

We share personal data—including data obtained from connected accounts—only with service providers acting on our behalf (e.g., cloud hosting, error monitoring, authentication) under written agreements that limit their use of the data to providing services to us and impose confidentiality and security obligations. We do not transfer third-party platform data except as permitted by the applicable platform policies.

Vendors, Consultants, and Other Third-Party Service Providers. We may share your data with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents ("third parties") who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work. The categories of third parties we may share personal information with are as follows:

  • Data analytics and error tracking services, such as Sentry and Apple
  • Cloud Computing Services, such as Amazon Web Services
  • User Account Registration & Authentication Services, such as Okta
  • Support, sales, and marketing tools we use for our own purposes

In general, we use providers that are SOC2 or ISO certified and enter into business agreements that restrict the use by the provider of information we collect.

Special situations. We also may need to share your personal information in special situations, such as:

  • Business Transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety, rights, or property of users, the public, or Kinelo.

How we keep your information safe

We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk. You should only access the Services within a secure environment.

Information from minors

We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under 18 years of age. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to such minor dependent’s use of the Services. If we learn that personal information from users less than 18 years of age has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under age 18, please contact us at support@kinelo.com.
